There is no perfect Zettelkasten!

Have surfed the web more than a dozen times in the last 3-4 years trying to learn the perfect way to setup a “Zettelkasten”! But tbh, some things I’ve read are quite confusing and seems hard to manage over the long run!

Here’s what I know I don’t want to do,

  • Have complicated names or IDs assigned to files - looks complicated and I have no idea what a Zettel is about looking at the name
  • Have a “fleeting notes” folder, cause being honest it’s pretty lame to fire up Obsidian every time I come across a nice quote or insightful article
  • Having folders, a flat hierarchy would be the easiest to maintain over the long run

How I think I’ll go ahead?

  • I wanna have two tags, one for “literature notes” and one for “permanent notes”
  • Make literature notes out of fleeting notes every night and then delete the fleeting notes
  • The literature note should have a corresponding permanent note in time
